Litoral —
What
We Carry

With Us

In "Litoral - what we carry with us" (2022), I carried out an action in which I transferred a small handful of sand between the beaches of Brighton, in the south of the United Kingdom, and Tramandaí, in the south of Brazil. The project emerged from my first experience of migration, during the time I lived in the UK, where I sought to explore the feelings of belonging and displacement that accompany the act of living in another country.

The sand, a symbol of transience and materiality, represents not only the physical weight and lightness of the action but also the emotional burden we carry when moving through foreign territories. The ocean, which simultaneously connects and separates worlds, acts as a mirror of this duality of being between spaces, where nature, culture, and identity blur and dissolve.
