STATEMENT

As an artist, my practice revolves around exploring the mediation, tension, and transformation of diverse spaces. I immerse myself deeply in specific spaces, whether public, private, or in-between, using the elements present to create artistic interventions that transcend the boundaries of physical space. My works invite the audience to reflect on their relationship with the spaces they inhabit, questioning the boundaries between the private and the public, the real and the imagined, and the ephemeral and the enduring.

BIO

Amanda Gatti is a Brazilian-born artist and researcher based between London and Madrid. Through performance, video, photography, and installation as her primary mediums, she explores transdisciplinary practices that delve into the potential of spaces, viewing them as sites of tension, mediation, and transformation. She also explores body, architecture and object as forms in process in a dynamic interrelationship.

Amanda holds a Master's degree in Performance and Visual Culture from the Reina Sofía Museum/UCLM (Spain, 2023), and a Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Production from PUCRS's School of Communication, Arts, and Design (Brazil, 2018), with an exchange program in Art History from UJA (Spain, 2017).

Her work has been featured in exhibitions, festivals, and artistic residencies across various cities in Brazil, Spain, Germany, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. She has received funding and scholarships from institutions such as the Brazilian National Arts Foundation, Secretary of Culture RS-Brazil, Santander Universities, Iberescena Program, and SESC. In 2021, she was awarded the Second Prize at the “Mov.Cidade”.

In addition to her artistic production, Amanda extends her practice by facilitating actions and workshops that foster the creation of critical and experimental spaces through a collaborative approach. Workshops include 'City, Dérive, and Performance Art' in Portugal (2022) as part of the 'Arqueologias Afetivas' research, the virtual workshop 'Becoming Action - Body & Memory' (2021) for participants from Latin America and Europe amidst the context of Covid-19, as well as various workshops held in Brazil.

Since 2024, Amanda has been curating and promoting the film club Cine-Ciudad from her apartment in Madrid. Additionally, she managed festivals and artistic events in Brazil from 2012 to 2020.
