CINE-CIUDAD
Founder-Curator-Coordinator
2025 - CCCQS (Madrid, Spain)
2024 - Lavapiés (Madrid, Spain)

Founded in 2024 by artist and researcher Amanda Gatti, Cine-Ciudad is a film program developed under PÁR, an itinerant platform for experimental and critical practices in cinema and contemporary art. The initiative was first launched in PÁR’s studio in Madrid’s Lavapiés neighborhood as a self-organized and non-profit space for exchange, and has since expanded to institutions such as CCCQS - Quinta del Sordo (Madrid). Cine-Ciudad is structured around three thematic axes—dérive, community, and architecture—through which it curates screenings and collective discussions, positioning cinema as a tool to reflect on urban life, spatial practices, and social dynamics. By combining curatorial experimentation with collaborative modes of engagement, Cine-Ciudad contributes to a broader ecology of independent cultural initiatives that bridge artistic research, collective learning, and critical reflection.
Project Timeline
2024
Cine-Ciudad began in January 2024 in PÁR's flat-studio in the Lavapiés neighborhood. Created, curated, and independently produced as a non-profit initiative by Amanda Gatti, it aimed to generate a collaborative space where participants could exchange ideas and interpretations about the films screened. Even in this pilot phase, the project has established valuable collaborations with filmmakers and distributors who have generously provided their films free of charge to be shown in this experimental context.
2025
Cine-Ciudad is invited to host three sessions at the CCCQS - Centro de Creación Contemporánea Quinta del Sordo in Madrid, as part of the parallel activities of the Casas Bajas exhibition. + Info
CLUBE DE ZANZANTES
Guest Facilitator
2023 - Porto Alegre, Brazil / Madrid, Spain

In July 2023, Amanda Gatti served as a guest facilitator for the Clube de Zanzantes, an initiative led by researcher Gabriela Tarouco from UFRGS, Brazil, connected to Gabriela's doctoral research. This project draws inspiration from the practices of artist-researchers in the performing and visual arts who explore walking as an aesthetic action. The research focuses on the nature of walking as a teaching-learning methodology in art, particularly through the development of games that facilitate exploration of urban spaces and, during the pandemic, the home environment.
During the Clube de Zanzantes session titled "Mapamundi - Movimentos Migratórios," Amanda collaborated with Gabriela to connect participants from Porto Alegre and Madrid remotely. Together, they guided participants on a pre-established route that reflected their own migratory movements, creating a shared experience of exploration and connection across distances. This session emphasized the role of walking as a means to navigate personal and collective histories, fostering dialogue about migration and belonging in both urban and virtual spaces.
As part of this ongoing study, field experiences were organized in collaboration with the Visual Arts and Theatre programs at UFRGS and FURG, aiming to practically apply the artistic-pedagogical games derived from this research. A final proposal of the thesis includes an artist's book titled "Práticas do zanzar: jogos artístico-pedagógicos para artistas, professoras(es) e curiosas(os)", which compiles the games developed during this journey.

ALL WOMEN IN CINEMA
Curator / Coordinator
2016 - Casa Peirô (Porto Alegre, Brazil)

In the 1930s, Brazilian cinema already featured the significant presence of filmmaker Cleo de Verberena. Since then, the number of women directors has steadily grown. In the 1970s, with the rise of feminist film criticism in the United States and Europe, films directed by women began to gain greater boldness and visibility. However, in Brazil, it was with the Cinema of Retomada in the mid-1990s that a new generation of female filmmakers emerged, spearheaded by the landmark film Carlota Joaquina – The Princess of Brazil, directed by Carla Camurati from Rio de Janeiro.
Despite this progress, Brazilian cinema remains predominantly led by men, often presenting a sexist perspective that objectifies women. Furthermore, the excessive emphasis on this male dominance continues to overshadow films created by women, which have the potential to offer alternative perspectives on cinematic themes and narratives.
To create a space for discussing the role of ALL women in cinema and to draw audience attention to independent productions, Casa Peirô organized the program ALL WOMEN IN CINEMA in March 2016. This initiative included screenings of feature and short films, debates, and workshops exclusively focused on women's contributions to production, direction, screenwriting, and acting.
